Align with the Seasons

Sing for the Earth and in Community

Our Manifesto

We are more than a women’s singing group.
We offer an evolving community of practice, deeply rooted in the Earth and guided by feminine principles.

Here’s what guides us:

Your voice is a gift to nurture, not a show to deliver

We do not sing to be heard; we sing to be nourished, and to be in resonance.

We listen & are attuned to the Earth and the Cycles

Our songs rise from the soil itself, flowing with the seasons, as we listen to the land and honor the cyclical wisdom of our own bodies.

We lead with Feminine Principles

We value flow over force, presence over perfection, and attunement over achievement.

We sing for Community and Connection

Harmony is a collaborative practice. Through small-group connection and shared repertoire, we weave a tapestry of belonging where your unfiltered voice is welcome.

We are Keepers of Song

We sing for our ancestors, our children, and the Earth, while empowering others to lead too so the medicine of song continues to ripple outward.

Do you resonate with our Song-Lines? Can you feel your heart singing?

If yes, we would love to...

invite you to explore the different ways to join the chorus of our Nourishment through Song Community.

Seasons, Times and Places we Gather to Sing

We are guided by Nature’s rhythm here in the Northern Hemisphere, balancing times for rest and silence with those of activity and the growing, blossoming, and harvest of our song repertoire each year.

We follow a cyclical rhythm of sessions with nature sing halfway through - a free offering at the end of every season to celebrate community, the harvest of the new repertoire learned, and to sing outdoors in nature, allowing her to enjoy our collective song.

While we pause in winter (or Ember season, as we like to call it) to deeply listen for the seasons ahead, we also take a shorter break in the summer to allow time for integration, travel, and rest between the two terms. To keep our community and flame alive throughout the longer winter break, we offer occasional opportunities during the Ember season - find out more in the FAQ section below.

During term times, we gather and sing every Tuesday between 7:00 and 8:30 pm in the Findhorn Village Center. Our Nature Sings take place in our most cherished places in nature, Saorsa Seillean (Lindsay's Wildflower Meadow) or at the wonderful Meadow Cottage up on the hill behind Roseisle, which became a small gathering place for our community amidst wide views and gorgeous flower meadows.

Frequently asked questions

If you have any questions, feel free to check the Q&A section below, or contact us directly if your question isn’t covered. We're always happy to connect.

When are the term dates released for the next term/year?

We usually release the term dates at the beginning of the current term, or even better, as we’re leading up to promoting the next one.

We always aim to share the full year’s schedule in advance, so if you decide to sign up for the full year, you’ll already have all the exact dates ready to mark in your calendar.

Are there any other opportunities to sing with you during term breaks, for example during the longer winter break?

Yes and it depends on the time of year and whether we’re around. Both of us also run occasional one-off (shared) events and workshops, which typically take place during quieter periods outside of term time. These are included or offered at discount to seasonal and full members of the Nourishment through Song Community.

To help keep our community connected and the spark alive over the longer winter break, we offer a few opportunities during the Ember season, as we like to call it. These usually include 2–3 optional, relaxed online Sing & Share sessions across January and February.

The best way to stay informed is to keep an eye on our websites and consider subscribing to our newsletters for updates on upcoming events.

Tell me more about the Nourishment Through Song Community Retreat Days?

The Nourishment Through Song Community Retreat Days are a special celebration of our community, created to offer extra nourishment and connection beyond our regular gatherings. These retreat days take place at the end of each of our spring/summer, and autumn block, with dates released alongside the term schedule.

Each day typically runs from 10am to 3.30 pm and is held in the beautiful surroundings of Meadow Cottage up on the hill between Roseisle Hopeman. The experience includes a delicious catered lunch, singing circles, sound baths, and often finishes with a relaxing sauna.

Each retreat day is unique and may also include seasonal offerings or yoga, depending on what our community would like to see or co-create with us.

The intention behind these days is to deepen our sense of community by creating a warm, social space where we can bond, feel supported, and reconnect with ourselves, each other and nature through song and community.

For those attending Singing the Seasons on a drop-in basis, there is an additional fee for the retreat days of £85. Participants enrolled for a full season receive 50% off (excl. food), meaning that there is an additional fee for the retreat days of £50. Those committed to the full year have the retreat days included at no extra cost.

How much money can I save through committing to regular attendance and what other benefits may I gain?

By committing to regular attendance, you can save not only money but also gain a range of additional benefits. These include discounts on our other events, as well as reduced prices or even free access to our community retreat days.

Beyond the financial savings, your commitment brings deeper value. You’ll have the opportunity to be part of shaping and co-creating our singing container and the wider community we are building together. The more consistently you attend, the more we can tailor the experience to your needs and preferences, ensuring your voice plays an active role in shaping the environment of our community.

For detailed comparisons of the exact amount of money saved through committing to a full term or year see pricing & benefits chart above.

Can I also pay in cash or installments?

Yes to both!

We do accept monthly installments via card payment or bank transfer if you register for a year or season. You’ll see these options when you get to the registration, which you can access here.

We also accept cash payments at the beginning of the term, full year or drop-in session. If you prefer this option, please get in touch with Carolin or Stacie so we can arrange to collect the payment at the start of the session, season, or year.

Do you offer bursary or reduced rate places?

Yes. We hold 2 to 3 bursary spots per term for those who feel genuinely called to this community but for whom the full cost is currently out of reach.

Bursary places are offered via a short application, and we ask that recipients commit to a minimum attendance agreement and offer a small amount of practical in-person support - such as helping with setup or takedown at sessions. This creates a clear and mutual exchange that honours both the community and the individual.

If you would like to apply for a bursary place, please get in touch with Stacie at hello@staciewhitney.com directly before the start of the term. We will do our best to respond to all applications promptly.

Why does your group only welcome women’s voices?

The decision to become a group focused exclusively on women’s voices came together quite naturally, as this was the energy we found ourselves consistently drawn to. Working with women’s voices creates a container we are deeply interested in growing, as it fosters a particular sense of intimacy, trust, and shared understanding. It also offers a common ground that aligns closely with our manifesto, which is rooted in the earth and guided by feminine principles.

Could you please define what you mean with the term women’s voices?

On one level, this simply means voices of those who identify as women - and we warmly welcome all who feel called to this space.

On another level, it speaks to something broader: a quality of the feminine principle that we believe is deeply needed in the world right now. This isn't about excluding anyone, or suggesting that only women carry this quality - but rather that we are intentionally creating space to cultivate it together, through song, seasonal rhythms, and connection to the natural world.

In practical terms, the songs, keys, harmonies, and themes we choose are shaped by and for women's voices and women's lived experience. And in a deeper sense, we are here to nourish something that has often been pushed to the margins - intuition, embodiment, care, cyclical awareness - and to let it sound, resonate, and heal.

This is an open and evolving space. We honour the full diversity of women's experiences, and we believe that amplifying the feminine - in all its forms - is ultimately good for everyone.

What is your average group size like?

We usually have between 10 & 20 singers in our circle as there are natural fluctuations in attendance each week.

Looking ahead, we would love to continue growing the group, as a larger circle allows for even richer harmonies and a deeper sense of voices intermingling together.

What does a typical “Singing the Seasons” session look like?

A typical Singing the Seasons session lasts around 90 minutes. We begin with gentle vocal warm-ups, meditations, and simple exercises to help us arrive, connect with our bodies and voices, and settle into the shared singing space. Often accompanied by the shruti box, these opening practices encourage deep listening, support the nervous system, and create a sense of connection within the group.

Throughout the session, oracle cards are available around our central piece for anyone who feels drawn to weave them into their own experience.

The heart of each session is singing together. We aim for a rich mix of songs - some slower and more spacious, others more upbeat and energising, with a range of difficulty levels to keep things engaging. There are songs we return to over time, gradually building harmonies and exploring more complex melodic and rhythmic textures. At other moments, we might bring in a simple song purely for the joy of singing - something that lifts the room or revisits a familiar favourite.

Our sessions are informal, playful, and welcoming, while also making space for the deeper, more reflective and emotive moments that naturally arise through singing together. We often close with a song that brings us into a quieter, more contemplative space - something we can offer to one another, or send out as a prayer into the wider world.

Am I really okay to join as a total beginner?

Yes, absolutely - you are so welcome to join as a total beginner. We would genuinely love to meet you and encourage you to take that first step, even if it simply begins with gentle humming or mostly listening at first.

In group singing, there’s something we often refer to as the “singing field.” It’s a shared, supportive space that allows your voice to emerge much more easily than when you’re exploring it on your own. You can let yourself be carried by the group, at your own pace.

One of our core intentions in holding this space is to offer a gentle and accessible entry into singing, and then gradually take you on a journey of deepening your listening and musicianship. This all happens within an oral tradition - there’s no need to read music. Instead, each song and every session helps to naturally grow your musicianship, strengthening your sense of pitch, melody, and confidence over time.

You’re also very welcome to revisit our manifesto, which reflects our values and the care we place on creating a safe, inclusive space for expression and for gently stepping into song.

We design each session to include a range of difficulty levels, with different songs and parts offering multiple entry points. This means you can participate in whatever way feels comfortable for you.

After each session, we also share lyrics and simple audio recordings of the songs. This gives you an extra opportunity to listen back and gently familiarise yourself with the repertoire in your own time, especially if you find it helpful when settling into new songs.

And if there’s ever a moment where something feels too fast or not quite accessible, we are always open to slowing down, adjusting, and receiving your feedback. It truly helps us support every voice within the circle.

What is your teaching style?

Our teaching style is primarily oral, which means we don’t rely on sheet music or expect anyone to read music.

Teaching this way is one of the oldest ways songs have been shared - passed down through our ancestors in shared listening and participation. There’s a beautiful simplicity in moving away from the head and into the ear: rather than focusing on written notes, we invite you to take in melody and rhythm through deep listening, allowing the songs to land more naturally in the body and voice.

You don’t need to worry about memorising words straight away. While we do provide lyrics, they’re not always necessary in the moment. Learning this way can sometimes take a little more time, but it often allows the songs to settle more deeply and opens up a richer awareness of the group dynamic, the harmonies, and what’s unfolding together in the space.

Our songs are usually sung a cappella, which helps us really tune into each other and the shared sound of the group. At times, we may weave in simple rhythmic support such as shakers, a cajón, or a drum - or a gentle drone, for example through the shruti box. On more occasional and rare moments, we might also add light instrumentation. Carolin plays the harp, violin, and piano, and sometimes we may explore bringing these in, though the voice always remains at the centre of our practice.

Occasionally, we may have a small amount of sheet music available for reference, but in principle, we always teach orally.

To support your learning and help the songs continue to grow with you, we share lyrics and recordings after each session - often including the different harmony parts. This gives you the option to listen back and sing along in your own time, deepening your connection with the songs throughout the week if you wish.

Can you tell me a bit more about the song repertoire you share in the session?

Our song repertoire is inspired by a wonderful global network of song leaders and communities. For example, in the UK we draw inspiration from the Natural Voice Network, and we are also influenced by the growing Sisters in Harmony movement - an international, heart-centred community of women devoted to amplifying the voice of the rising feminine spirit through singing in sacred circles based in the US.

Many of these networks generously share song libraries with harmonies and parts that we are grateful to learn from and bring into our sessions. Alongside this, we also arrange songs that resonate with us, follow our own creative instincts, and share original songs that we have written ourselves.

We warmly welcome contributions - if you come across a song you would love to sing with us or feel called to share, we are always open to new suggestions and ideas as our repertoire continues to grow and evolve.

As the name suggests, our singing is also inspired by the qualities of the seasons and the cycles of time. We aim to weave these energies and intentions into our song choices, allowing the repertoire to reflect and honour what is present in each moment.

Will I be satisfied when I am a seasoned singer, ready for a little bit of challenge?

Yes and we always do our best to meet your ambitions and intentions.

Because we sing in different harmonies together, there is always space for a variety of difficulty levels within the parts and arrangements we introduce. We try to allocate these thoughtfully, while also making sure we are supporting the growth of each and every person in the group, to develop our individual and collective musicianship together - something that really matters to us.

We’re also open to exploring more tailored opportunities if you’d like, including introducing or shaping certain solo parts where appropriate, so you can explore new layers of (sharing) your voice. At the same time, we really encourage open communication. If you ever feel under-challenged, we invite you to say so and share where you feel your current growth edges are. That way, we can look at how to stretch and support you further, and continue growing together in a way that feels both rewarding and satisfying for the group.

Is it true that you really never perform with your group?

It is very important for us to point out that we are not a performance group, as is clearly reflected in our manifesto.

We are mindful that a performance-focused practice can, in some cases, feel quite intimidating or counterproductive to the process of finding your own voice and growing into your own song. This is especially true when considering the conditioning and experiences many people may carry from earlier associations with the stage or being in the spotlight.

The only “performance” we truly offer is singing for the earth when we share and enjoy our repertoire outdoors in nature at our Nature Sings. Even then, we would not describe it as performing in a formal sense; rather, it is about sharing, listening, and gifting our singing.

That said, both of us do have backgrounds in performance and continue to explore that path individually. So if you are interested in developing more in that area of vocal expression and sharing, we are open to creating space within our community (but outside of the regular Singing the Seasons sessions) to gently explore this together.

There may also, from time to time, be opportunities to participate next to the regular Singing Seasons sessions in wee performance projects that we may put on anyway and where we would warmly welcome more women’s voices to join in.

These would tend to happen separately from the core sessions, and only when they feel supportive and appropriate for the growth of the group or individual voices. In all cases, they would be held in a supportive and intentional way, with the main focus always remaining on singing and  connection.
